{A Proper Winter Meal & Some bigBANG Housekeeping}

Also. Some housekeeping things here at bigBANG: you can now get new posts delivered to your inbox by entering your email address in the nifty bar over there to the right. I've also started an index of book recommendations, (click on the picture of the paring knife with the strawberries and the book), and I'd LOVE your recommendations, too; feel free to click over there and leave a comment on that page with any recent beloved reads. (For some truly awesome reader input on books, see the comments on this post.) Also, new header. What do we think? I'm long overdue for a face lift over here in a major way (thinking of moving over to the dark side to Wordpress) but this'll do for now. Hope you had a great weekend!
YAY for a new look! AND yay for a reading list!! I look forward to checking out your recommendations :)
ReplyDeleteI just finished 'Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell'. It's a few years old I think. And slow to start, but not badly so. It's the only book I've ever read that I didn't want to stay up all night reading but still wanted to read every bit of. And it's magical; you fall completely in love with the characters and the world they live in and if you're anything like me, even though it took a month to get through (see above) you'll wish there were more...
ReplyDeleteA + for the new header! So excited to browse your book list, too. And I adore wordpress, so I would be happy to see you on the dark side. ; )
ReplyDeleteMaybe we do Flatbush Farm when I'm there end of Feb.?
i've been consumed by the game of thrones series lately. they are fun, but a big commitment to read all four long books once you get sucked in.
ReplyDeletemy finger is almost all better now! it was amazing to watch it heal. and sadly no i didn't make it to the APW thang because it turned out i wasn't free that afternoon until later after the reading.
love the new header :)
ReplyDeleteI always love cozy restaurants that put lots of TLC in their food.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting together a recommended reading list. I always feel so picky when choosing a new book and can't seem to commit to anything for fear it won't live up to my most recent "best read"'s standards.
ReplyDeleteLookin' good, lady.
ReplyDeleteoooooh.
ReplyDeletethis sounds great.
i had dinner at f.f. awhile back and was pretty underwhelmed, but it does seem like a place that may be better suited for winter.

The new banner looks gawgeous! Totally perfect to have your recent show up there. :) After coming from Blogger and then Squarespace, I have to say switching to a self-hosted Wordpress was like a revelation. Soooo many things you can do with it, and so many things it can do for you! So I'm sure using Wordpress.com is just as awesome. Hope you're feeling better!
ReplyDeletei am moving to brooklyn; i can't freakin' take it anymore.
ReplyDeleteright now i am reading "out of africa" and i have NO IDEA why i waited so long. it's wonderful.
Love the new header! It's great to have your work incorporated.
ReplyDeleteI love your header! The photographs are amazing. xo, rv

Hey! My brother had his rehearsal dinner at the Foreign Cinema, in their Art Gallery, now that I think about it...
ReplyDeletei was going to say something about the new header, but i thought maybe i'd missed some notification in the past few posts + didn't want to look like an idiot/jerk. (HA! too late for that now!) anyway, IT LOOKS GREAT. omigosh. just perfect, i think, as you needed something that tied in your (very recent) work to your blog, in an easily-recognizable way. highfive!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe new header is gorgeous! As was all your new work, hot damn. Someday when I'm brave enough, I might have to convince you to learn how to give tattoos, and that way I can commission you to design and ink me with the most glorious flowers.
ReplyDeleteOooooh GREAT book recs! You've reminded me I've forgotten a few from 2011. Adding now. Also, some new commenters! Fun! Welcome everyone! And thanks for the kind comments about the new header! Full disclosure: I don't own Photoshop and I made it in Word. Yup.
ReplyDeleteSounds like those of you who switched to Wordpress are happy with that decision. It's only a matter of time (and finding the right woman for the job!).
Joanna- DONE.
Julia- I've heard the same thing about Game of Thrones. Might carve out some summer reading time for those puppies.
LPC- no way! That outdoor walled garden is my favorite spot in SF!
in dreams- didn't miss a thang. thanks!
Liz- That's my fall-back plan:)
Your blog fill my daily dose of wanderlust.
ReplyDeleteI love the new banner! That's my most-coveted painting of yours up there--the big'un. And je prefere le bloggere...personally. <3
ReplyDeleteThe new banner is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited about your new book recommendations list - it's too late in the evening for me to think about books so I'm going to have to recommend some to you later. ;)

love the new banner and flatbush farm sounds amazing. i'm for any place with a walled garden! looking forward to your recommended reading list. i'm eager to read no one is here except for all of us by ramona ausubel.
ReplyDeletelike a wordpress proper blog with your own url and everything? are there benefits to that? i feel like your site is so simple, what would you need that's not on blogspot?
ReplyDeletejust curious.
The banner is fantastic!! In Words, no less? Bravo. I can't even get mine to go all the way across.ha. I am considering the whole wordpress thing as well. I'm going to start with redesigning my website there. As soon as Hubby has time to help.
ReplyDeleteI miss reading!! I'm so glad your keeping a list. Once Miss V graduates from high school I can catch up.;-)
