Peace in the Panhandle

{A Night in the Idaho Wilderness}

P. and I left Oregon and headed east and north into the coniferous dreamland of the Idaho panhandle, through tiny canyon towns with names like Halfway, White Bird and Horseshoe Bend. We wound our way through the mountains until evening, then broke camp somewhere in the middle of the 2.3 million acres of Payette National Forest.  No one else. Just us, the dogs, the pines, and, for a fleeting, wondrous moment, a grazing mule deer doe.

Hope you have a marvelous weekend.

    The deer is beautiful, you can't buy moments like that. I also adore the dog/butterfly photo. Glad you're having such a great trip :)

  6. I'm seriously going to have to convince my husband that he likes to camp and that we need a trail. Like really need. And we need to drive all over the place with said trailer and enjoy every moment of it. (Or at least close to every moment as I'm sure there would be a few un-fun ones involving bug bites and middle of the night trips to "bathroom.")

  10. Hi Lily,

    Thanks for the beautiful photos of Crater Lake. I've lived in Oregon for the majority of my life but have never made it there! I just posted my nominations for the "Versatile Blogger Award." Go take a peek! And please know, as far as I'm concerned, the award is yours to do with as you see fit! Thanks for your wonderful blog! Best..Gloria
